Located just 7 kilometers south of the former DMZ, the area covers 2 hectares of a larger 120 hectare site prioritized by the local authorities for mine and UXO clearance to ensure the safe resettlement of 78 local households. The former village on the site was cleared in 1963 to make way for a US Marine Corps Fire Support Base "Charlie 1". The former inhabitants have been living around the edge of the site for over 25 years in overcrowded and difficult conditions waiting to return to their land. Since the end of the war, 29 people have been killed and 45 people injured in mine and UXO accidents on the site as well as 97 livestock lost. Along with each house and garden plot each family will be given 1 1/2 hectares of agricultural land for food production and income generation. This minefield has been successfully cleared. Deminers found and destroyed 42 UXO. This cleared minefield is part of the Truc Lam development project, a community level project to resettle 78 local families.

Quang Binh province, with approximately 714,891 inhabitants, contains large stretches of the former Ho Chi Minh Trail, which linked the supply lines from the North into the Southern provinces. Many areas were used as staging grounds and logistical supply stores for the troops and equipment moving south. A technical assessment of the province found un-exploded ordinances (UXOs) in various states lying on the surface of the ground with a contamination rate of 1 item per 100m2.Vietnamese officials have designated Quang Binh as a top priority for assistance due to the devastation caused by the war, which has left the province one of the poorest in Vietnam. The explosive remnants of war continue to severely restrict development opportunities in many of the communes and are a constant and ever-present threat to children and their families who live, work, play and study in these areas.
CPI assists landmines survivors in the Quang Tri province, an area that was just south of the DMZ during the Vietnam war and which saw some of the heaviest fighting and bombing. CPI provides the following services: Post-trauma Medical Services for landmine accident survivors, including orthopedic surgery, prosthetics, physical rehabilitation and follow-up medical care and logistical support.
Emergency Outreach Services for newly injured accident survivors as well as family bereavement grants for accident families.
Child Scholarships for school-aged children who have been injured by accidental explosions or have a mine-injured parent, including special needs scholarships for child mine survivors.
Home Improvement grants for mine impacted individuals or families- including refitting homes for disabled access.
Vocational training course for accident survivors so that they can support themselves and their families.
